Mrs Anna Elizabeth Keyes was born in Marion, Virginia, December 25, 1867, and passed to eternal reward March 9, 1926, being 58 years, 2 months, and 14 days old. She became a member of the Presbyterian church early in life, and her works proved her fidelity to the Christ whom she chose as her Lord and Savior. In young womanhood she was united in marriage to George W. Keyes who passed away in Denver more than 27 years since. To the union were born five children, three of whom, Minter Jackson Keyes of Las Animas, Colorado, Miss Elizabeth May Keyes, Kansas City, Missouri, and Mrs. Margaret Lightfoot, Pratt, Kansas survive her. After her husband's death 27 years ago, the family removed to their former home, St. Joseph Missouri and about ten years ago came back to Colorado. The mother and son Jack, have made their home near Ninaview for the past 10 years, from where on last week, she was brought to Las Animas hospital where, after five days illness, she met the last enemy--death. Her place in the home is forever vacant, but her pleasant memories and good advice will abide until the children are called to meet her. May her God abide and comfort their hearts. Funeral services were held from the Powell Undertaking Parlors by Rev. Chas. A. Sigmon on March 11th, and her body was laid to rest in the Las Animas cemetary.
