Jean (Rife) Gwaltney said that the "E" in Regan is pronounced as a long "A". Jean (Rife) Gwaltney said that the Catholic religion came into the Rife family from Anna G. Regan. Anna's parents were Irish Catholics. Both of her parents were born in Ireland. In Hamilton the Germans and the Irish had their own Catholic churches. St. Joseph's was the German church and St. Mary's was the Irish. Jean remembers growing up 2 blocks from St. Joseph's and going all the way to St. Mary's for church because that was the place that the family had gone to because of Anna being Irish. The family eventually did start to go to St. Joseph's.
