- ↑ "Dies from Injuries - Mrs. Anna Ostrander only lived two days afteraccident - The accident to Mrs. Anna Ostrander Wednesday, June 15,resulted in her death on Friday. As stated in our last issue, Mrs.Ostrander had attended the free picture show, and was taken home by Mrs.Irvin Kerby, who drew out on the right side of the road opposite theOstrander home, on the west side of the river. Mrs. Ostrander steppedfrom the car into the middle of the road just as Edwin Albright in aFord car was passing from the west, and knocked her down. Albright wastraveling slowly as he stopped within a few feet, and the car had to belifted to free Mrs. Ostrander. (Note: Viola Ostrander Furnish haswritten on the clipping that her mother was dragged 25 feet.)
Anna Powell was born December 13, 1858, in Danby township, thiscounty (Ionia), and passed away Friday, June 17, aged 63 years, 6months, and 4 days. She was married to Salem Ostrander October 3, 1880,and Mr. Ostrander passed away January 31, 1907, at the farm home west ofLyons where they resided before coming to the village to live five yearsago. she is survived by seven children; Mrs. Bell (Sara Belle) Stanton,Lakeview; George and Mrs. Alma Morgan, Ionia; Chester, Muir; Mrs. ViolaFurnish, Durand; Salem and Ruth, who resided here with their mother.Besides the children, she is survived by an aged mother, Mrs. Alma Marcyof Mt. Pleasant, two half sisters, Edna (Marcy) Kelley & Nettie (Marcy(Chapman, and two half brothers, (Elmer C. & Emmet G. Marcy) 20grandchildren and one great-grandson (Charles Lewis.)"
