BAKER, KATHLEEN RUTH-died peacefully on January 22, 2009 at the age of 90 years. Predeceased by her husband Joffre, her parents Mervin and Annie Martin, and her sister Dorothy (Ralph) Gienow, Kay is survived by her daughter <names of living individuals have been removed>. Kay grew up in Lipton and Balgonie before attending the University of Saskatchewan where she obtained Bachelor degrees in Arts and Education. She was a role model to her family as a life long learner and instilled in them the importance of education. As a mother, she devoted her life to her children after Joffre's early death in 1952. She retired from 31 years as a teacher at the Saskatchewan Government Correspondence School in 1983. As a grandmother, she derived great joy from sharing in the lives of her grandchildren. Kay loved animals, her cottage at Mission Lake and her many travels around the globe. Her dear friends enriched her life. A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Regina Humane Society or the William Booth Special Care Home where she received excellent care during her final years.
