Ann Sanders' origins are unknown. She was married on 8th November 1773 at Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire to a gardener named John Hickinbottom. In 1777 they had a son named John baptised. Sadly he died less than two years later. Ann and John appear not to have had any other children.

Ann died in 1811, after 38 years of marriage. She was buried at Leighton Buzzard on 9th December 1811. John outlived her by less than five years. When John died in 1816 his will referred to his cottages and land in Leighton Buzzard, so presumably they had been relatively comfortable in terms of assets.
