ANN2 LORD (Nathan1) was born probably at Kittery, say 1678 (assuming
marriage at age 20). She died after 28 August 1745 when she was mentioned in her
husband’s probate record. She married at Dover, New Hampshire, on 28 August
1698, TOBIAS HANSON as his second wife.414 Tobias, son of Tobias and Elizabeth
(Boyce) Hanson,415 died in Dover before 28 August 1745 when his will was in
probate.416 He had married first Lydia Canney, who was born on 26 August 1673,
daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Taylor) Canney.417
Tobias was the first of his family to espouse the faith of the Society of Friends,
as did his children, who appear frequently in the records of the Dover Monthly
Meeting. On 4 February 1698/9, Tobias Hanson gave power of attorney to his uncle
John Hance of Shrewsbury, New Jersey, as his general agent in East Jersey.418 In
1711 Tobias provided a surety on the bond of Gershom Downes on the estate of his
brother-in-law Thomas Downes.419 Tobias and Ann Hanson quitclaimed their interest
in the homestead of Ann’s brother Abraham Lord and nephew William Lord on
3 May 1736.420 Tobias’s children by his first wife, Lydia Canney, included Benjamin
and Elizabeth.421 Tobias’s will of 1 June 1742 mentions his wife Ann, sons
Tobias, Joseph, and Isaac, and daughters Elizabeth Buckston [by first wife, Lydia
Canney], Mercy Varney, and Judith Twombley.422
