Andrew Clinton Hack was born in about 1840 in Maryland. He died at Willow Lawn, near Winchester, Virginia. He was the son of Frederick A. Hack and Anna M. Rieman. His paternal grandfather was Andrew Hack Jr.

Andrew Hack Jr. was the son of Andrew Hake and Anna Maria Wintermeyer. of York County, Pennsylvania.

Andrew's maternal grandfather was Henry Rieman.

Andrew Hack first married Sally R. Cunningham on 18 February 1867 in Hardy County, West Virginia. Sally was born in about 1839 in Hardy County, West Virginia and died on 24 October 1869, eight days after the birth of her son Seymour. Sally died in Hardy County. Her cause of death was listed as child birth. Sally was the daughter of George and Rebecca Cunningham.

Andrew then married Annie Russell.
