Dad was five when he [Andrew Gambol, Frank's father] died, being born in 1917. Grandpa was hit by a train working for the railroad as a gandy dancer--the fellows who straighten the rails. When they did that work they whacked away at the rails and hammered in the big nails. They did not hear the trains going by them and it was believed he did not hear the train and it hit him. He died instantly. He was supposed to be a really lovely man and everyone liked him. ___ from an email from Donna J. Gambol to Shawna Gambol Woodard
