Anders and his wife Kirstine Gulbrandsd emigrated 26 May 1850 from the Haug farm in Nittedal, Akershus, Norway to Maridalen, Norway, then in the early 1850's to the US, settling in Rushford, Fillmore, Minnesota. In 1860 Anders Hendreksen acquired 120 acres in Section 12 W 1/2 of the SW 1/4, and in Section 13 the NW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 in Fillmore County, MN. His brother Hendrik acquired land on the south of Rushford, and his uncle Hans Hansen acquired 160 acres adjacent to Anders. Anders was active in the Rushford Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church.
