Searched Abild for Anders. Not found there. It seems that the surname of Almquist was used last on a HRS in 1794 (1619.973500) in Hjuleberg. He used it when he married in 1797.
Also records in Hjuleberg go back with another first name [Budjnubon] Almquist in 1796 with an Elin listed there also. Her age is a good match and he is listed with Vigd. (marriage) date of 30 April 1897 so I know it is the right Almquist. The ages of 18 people listed on this record are from 14-45 with one exception. One is 73. Not sure what type of place this is. He is listed this way as far back as 1794.
The Military. At the end of the 17th century the military system of Sweden was completely reorganized and the system was to remain in effect for over 200 years. Simplified it specified that four farms (there were exceptions) were to join forces and equip a soldier and provide him with a house (soldattorp). The soldier was to attend military drills and in time of war was to report for duty, wherever that might be. Since he had a rural background he had a patronymic name, which might be very common, such as Andersson, Eriksson, Olsson or Petersson. When he appeared before the military scribe he was given a soldier's name, which he kept during his service and which he often retained when he was pensioned or left the service.
Alm = elm; Qvist = twig, thus Almquist = elm twig

The 1796 record lists [Budjnubon] Almquist 23 Vigd. (married) d. 30 April 1797 (this is the day that Elin and Anders wed!) Also there is a listing of Elin 27 Vigd. [?] (it may say the word Almquist) Note: These records do not seem to look like a family-no one is listed as mother, father, son or dotter. As I go back into the records the ages match and Elin shows back as far as 1792. For Anders he is listed as Almquist on 1794-96. In 1793 he is listed as [Budjnubon] Alberg, 1792 he is listed as Anders, 1788-89 he is Cyoban Anders . Reference number: HSSW003 Verified: YES
Then he disappears. I searched all of the records for anyone else by the name of Almquist but there is none. These records list people by age not birth date so I am making a pretty big assumption that this is Anders Nelsson Almquist. But his age matches each time as I go back and Elin is there except for the last two. Perhaps someday I can match this information with Military records to validate this assumption.

1800-Note: I cannot read the comments-too bad as it might tell me where they came from. In 1796 the first 2 people listed on this record Peter [S]van & Sara Maria are living in Åsberg but no Almquists. It appears that the Almquists are living with them in 1800. 1811-15: Note: Cannot read the comments on this record. There are a lot of them. 1816-20: Note: check to see if Neta married a Eric Johansson. Perhaps line 7 was a child from Eric's first marriage? Looked for a married for Neta 1815-20 in Abild but none found.
