Taken from The History of Delaware County W.W. MUNSELL 1797-1880 THE TOWN OF MEREDITH Electronic text by Linda Sager Kazalski:

"AMASA FOX was born in Columbia county in 1796; has resided in Meredith since 1823; served his town as justice of the peace for four years. His father was Allen Fox, a Revolutionary soldier, whose, discharge, signed by George Washington, is now to the possession of his son. Mr. Fox married Betsy Jones, now deceased, afterward married. Mehitabel Barnes; has one child living."

Taken from, where it states: I (Wendy Bovee Wall) found a paper my Uncle Frank Bovee, supervisor of Woodland cemetery in Delhi, had given to me. Its names from a small cemetery outside of Meridale, (not Pine Grove Cemtery ) I don't know if it has a name, he didn't list it if it did. This is only a partial list. I've written them down as he showed them on his paper, it looks like he wrote them exactly as the appeared on the stones.

From a Jeremiah Palmer at

"Just wanted to mention that Allen Fox and family including Amasa Fox (son) is mentioned in the newer book Two Hundred Years of Rolling Suns by Bernice Telian Historian of Meredith town in Delaware Co.

"Also Amasa lived on the corner of Palmer Hill where I grew up years ago and I am certain that he is buried in the Meridale (Meredith Hollow was the old name) cemetery where a friend and I used to clean and mow (again some time ago). My father spoke of him but think that was because his family knew him. Perhaps there were some children or other relatives."
