"The following copied by Althea Gaddis from a clipping (Galesburg Paper): Death of Mrs (John) Gaddis Died on Monday eve, Dec 21, 1891 at the home of her son, Walter Gaddis in this township, Mrs. Chloe Fox Gaddis, widow of John Gaddis who died six years ago. Grandmother Gaddis was born in Delaware Co. N. Y on July 25, 1803; was married in 1823 (Nov 20). Surviving are her daughters: Mrs. Mary Butts of this city, Mrs. Cloe Smith of Olena, Ill, Mrs. N. G. Davidson (Nancy) of Hull, Ia.; also sons Allen of Olena, Walter of Galesburg and Lucas of Neponset, Ill. She and her husband became members of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in early life and remained steadfast in that church membership during their earthly life" Also, through Chloe we are eligible for DAR membeship because of her father, Allen who served in the Revolutionary War Armed Forces of the State of Connecticut, enlisted Cornwall, Jan 7, 1777 |
