Aleyn Whitley Stokes, DSO (Distinguished Service Order), MC (Military Cross), Col RE (Royal Engineers), served in S. African War 1899-1902, and in WW!, married 1st Cecilia Mary (d. 19feb1958); and 2nd 9jun1959, Priscilla Louisa Frances (d. 9mar1969), formerly wife of Reginald Hare Duke, OBE, and eldest daughter of Bindon Blood Stoney, FRS (Fellow, Royal Society), LLD (Doctor of Laws) (see bi), and died 20feb1965 (Burke's Irish family records).

Aleyn Whitley STOKES was born 1880 and died 1965 (Dict. of National Biography). He married Priscilla STONEY. He also married Cecilia Mary PARKER 24jan1910 in Cairo, Egypt; at that time he was a Captain R. E. (Royal Engineers) (attd Egyptian army) as reported in 1950 (the Times) from their address Maryland, Beech Close, Roehampton. In 1932 Col. Aleyn W. Stokes DSO, MC, moved from the post of Chief Engineer, Egypt, to Assistant Adjutant General at the War Office (the Times). .
