Facts and Events
[edit] Advisory on Alexander McClanahanThis Alexander McClanahan has been listed by some sources as a son of Elijan McClanahan and Anne Ewing, but several other sources claim (and it appears more likely) that he was the son of John McClanahan and Frances Snodgrass. The fact that Alexander named his eldest son John, instead of Elijah may show (if he followed established naming patterns) that his father was John. There is also additional evidence in the will of James McClanahan, brother of John McClanahan that married Frances Snodgrass, as he names his brother John's sons John and ALEXANDER in his will of 7 July, 1761. (Lunenburg Co., VA, Will Book 1, page 322) More research may be necessary to conclusively prove his parentage. [edit] Military Service
