Notes by his granddaughter Bertha Qualls (in family files): He was the youngest of 13 children. While just a child, his parents, Albert, 2 brothers (Zeph and Vic) and a sister (Minnie) moved to Northern Michigan near Fremont. The rest of the family stayed in Canada. On Thanksgiving Day 1882 he married Mary Philomene Volk. By her he had 2 sons and 3 daughters The combined families engaged in farming and logging. In 1892 he came west to Washington and settled in Rushton, a suburb of Tacoma, and lived there the rest of his life. He worked in a copper smelter. His brothers and sisters remained in Michigan. He was married twice, the second wife was Emma Volk, younger sister of his first wife, by her he had a daughter and a son. He had the spelling of the family name changed to Pero, although it is pronounced the same as Perrault. He died in Tacoma, Wash, on August 13, 1937 and was buried between his two older sons in Greenwood Cemetery in Centralia, WA. |
