ANOTHER GUERNSEY MEET The Waushara County Guernsey Breeders' Association will hold its fourth annual picnic at the Butternut Guernsey farm of Albert Olson, two miles south of Almond, on June 24. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Olson and Clarence autoed to Oshkosh and visited their son and brother, Palmer, who has been in a sanatorium for the past several weeks, and has recently been moved to the hospital that he might receive surgical help if his condition required. They were accompanied home by Mary Ellen Benjamin who had spent the week in the Olson home. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Olson and Hanford Olson were also visitors in the Olson home. ALBERT OLSON Funeral services for the late Albert Olson, Waushara County resident who died New Year's morning, will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the family home two miles south of Almond, followed by a service at the Emmanuel Church at Almond at 2 o'clock. Mr. Olson upon retiring Tuesday evening was in his usual good hearth. Early Wednesday morning he evidently suffered a heart attack and passed away very quickly. His widow is prostrated with grief and her condition has been critical since. Mr. Olson is survived, besides his widow, by four sons: Hanford Olson, Alvin Olson, and Clarence Olson, all residents of the neighboring vicinity in Oasis, and Rev. Louis Olson, pastor of a Baptist church at Milwaukee, several grandchildren and one brother, Carl Olson of the town of Oasis. SOURCE: STEVENS POINT DAILY JOURNAL, January 3, 1936. ALBERT OLSON Funeral services for the late Albert Olson, who died unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, were held at Almond on Saturday afternoon, following a brief service at the Olson home two miles south of the village. A large number of relatives, neighbors and friends filled the Emmanuel Church where Rev. Theodore Nelson, Baptist pastor of Ironwood, Michigan, a personal friend of the family and a former pastor of the Almond Baptist Church officiated with Rev. R. Hoffman and Rev. D. J. Appleby, local pastor, assisting. Hymns, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus,' 'Lord I'm Coming Home' and 'Think of the Home Over There' were sung by a mixed chorus with Miss Buelah Schleicher playing the accompaniment. Flowers were carried by Mrs. Earl Olson, Miss Clara Olson, Miss Mildred Broman and Miss Lucille Olson, with Mrs. E. O. Hardell in charge. Interment took place in the family lot in the Almond Village cemetery beside the grave of his son, Palmer, who died in 1922. The pallbearers were Will Grim, Frank Trickey, Ora Broman, Alfred Broman, Henry Janecek and Marion Hansen. Mr. Olson was 61 years of age. His birth place was at Stevens Point on December 24, 1874. He resided later in the Town of New Home. He completed the grade school course and later attended the Scandinavia Academy. Since his marriage to Miss Larson on December 20, 1895, the couple resided in Waushara County. Mr. Olson was town treasurer for seven years and at the time of his death, on January 1, he was town assessor, an office which he held for the past 11 years. His wife and four sons survive. Hanford and Alvin in the neighboring vicinity, Clarence employed by the federal government, and Rev. OLSON, BADE FAMILIES HAVE FIRST REUNION Members of the Albert Olson and John Bade families held their first reunion Saturday afternoon at Iverson Park, on the 80th birthday of Mrs. Eva E. Olson, the last surviving child of the John Bades. Those attending spent the afternoon visiting, taking pictures and reviewing family picture albums, and a potluck dinner was served for 94 people. Family members attended from Vancouver, B. C., Canada; Virginia, Pennsylvania, Oregon and Illinois, and from Milwaukee, Hales Corners, Weyauwega, Park Falls, Appleton, Ripon, Almond, Hancock, Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Oshkosh, Wild Rose and Stevens Point.
