Dr Albert Vernon Coble, 46, of Rt 1, Burlington, area dentist and civic leader, died in a Chapel Hill hospital at 7:30 o'clock last night after one year of failing health and three days of critical illness. He was a native of Alamance County, son of th elate James Henry and Mrs Donna Gleason Coble. He was the husband of Mrs Elizabeth Wall Coble of the home, who survives. A graduate of Elon College, he received his master's degree from the University of North Carolina. Before entering dentistry, Dr Coble taught at Elon College for a number of years and at Walnut Cove and a private Episcopal high school in Alexandria, Va. He was a member and past president of the Alamance-Caswell Dental Society and was listed in "Who's Who in the South and Southeast." a former member of the Alamance Civitan Club, he served as president of the club in 1960-1961 and was named Civitan of the Year in 1961. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the E M Holt School committee. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Misses Elizabeth Anne Coble, Cynthia Alice Coble and Priscilla Jane Coble, all of the home; two sons, Albert Vernon Coble II and James Thomas Coble, both of the home; three sisters, Miss Julia Frances Coble of Rt 1, Burlington, Mrs Esther Dunn of Burlington and Mrs Fred Darlington III of Burlington, and one brother, James Floyd Coble of Rt 1, Burlington. Final rites will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at St Paul's Lutheran Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev Ronald Diegel, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
