Agnes had a whole pile of "extra" names, legal, baptismal, and otherwise. At her funeral, the pastor gave this list: Agnes Scott Alene Cinderella Vashtii Buffington McConnell. Her parents hadintended that Agnes attend the Agnes ScottCollege in Decatur, GA. However, they died when Agnes was quite young and she was unable to go. (Research): AGNES S MCCONNELL Request Information (SS-5) SSN 485-58-2998 Residence: 50010 Ames, Story, IA Born 22 Feb 1909 Last Benefit: Died 9 Jun 1996 Issued: IA(1963) (Medical):Agnes was very tiny, only 4' 11" and had a small pelvis. Her first two children were stillborn -- at that time cesarian sections were extremely rare. Today, the boys would probably have been born via c-section andwould have survived the birth. When Patty was born, Glenn pulled strings to beat the birth--and was in the labor and delivery rooms. Perhaps Patty was a bit smaller, perhaps Agnes felt more secure with Glenn there--who knows, but Patty made it! (Personal conversations with Agnes--cc) |
