"Ref." indicates a reference to a page in this or another church book. Dates prior to emigration to Canada are assumed to be given according to the Julian ("old world") calendar, which was 12 days behind the Gregorian (modern) calendar in the 1800's.
The Jacob and Catherine Harder referenced in the comments were in Chortitza Colony (Neuendorf #1) in 1802, with son Peter aged 15. But the Peter Harder born 7 Jan 1786 did not immigrate to Chortitza Colony until 1818 (B. H. Unruh, page 217).

The editors compared Quebec Passenger Lists to Hamburg, Germany Passenger Lists, and where the information was different, included the Hamburg information in square brackets [ ]. B1843-A50 refers to Bergthal Gemeinde Buch, page A50.
In the published book, the ship is identified as S. S. Peruvian No. 27, arriving in Quebec in July 1874. In an online version (created 2001), it is identified as S. S. Peruvian No. 47, arriving in Quebec on July 27, 1874.
