He seems to have disappeared in York Co. and this marriage in OH fits perfectly. Of course more research is needed but this appears to be a good fit. BIOGRAPHICAL: From Jack Seifert - See Elmer Elsworth Mummert for full article. - The main trunk of the Mummert family tree as it has grown and flourished on American soil originated in Jacob Mummert, who was born in the famous old province of Alsace Lorraine, Germany, in 1650, and who sometime in the course of that century came to America. At Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, his son Adam was born in 1700. Adam in turn had a son Jacob, born in Adams county, Pennsylvania, in 1745, and who, among the earliest pioneers, crossed the Alleghanies and settled at Canton, Ohio, where, on June 2, 1801, was born his son Adam Mummert, the grandfather of Elmer E. of Goshen. NOTE: Much of the above is incorrect - especially the first two generations. BIOGRAPHICAL: From Goodspeed's 1882 Index to Whitley and Noble Co's, IN p. 442-4, FHL #977.26 H2g. In this article on George W. Mummert it states that the family (his parents Adam and Mary Ann Mummert who were natives of PA came to Ohio in 1816. The mother subsequently died but the father was still living in 1882 and though 81 years old he was quite active.
