Lieutenant and Captain in the Rhode Island line. His pension is available. Among other places, he fought at Princeton and Trenton.
There is great confusion about his parents:
There is a statement in Bangor Hist Magazine (Vol 6, Ed. by J Porter) that he was 'said to be the son of Benjamin Tourtillott" (and JerushaBallard). The article is puzzling in its emphasis of terms like "was said to be" etc -- like it doesn't quite trust itself!

Stay tuned. After a lot of digging, the most probable parentage is Abraham T, b 1729, died Killingly, CT 1779. Certainly the mother is not Phebe Harris, who was married to an Arnold, mat least if she is taken to be d. of Toleration H. This is easy to see in Toleratiion's Will. En extremely interesting point is that Israel Harrington, b. Glocester and died in Easton NY in 1812 is called a cousin of Abraham in his widows pension application. Israel's parents are Willliam and Ann Hamon. If we assume cousin to mean first cousin, it is a gigantic clue. I thank Dr. Bruce Steiner for finding this.
