BRANXTON

Late Mr. Richardson

The funeral of the late Mr. Abraham Enoch Richardson, who passed away recently in Maitland Hospital after a brief illness, moved from the residence of his son, Mr. Clem Richardson, in Drina-street, Branxton, to the Methodist portion of the Branxton cemetery, at East Branxton.

Deceased, who was a native of Branxton, where he was born over 86 years ago, was one of the pioneers of the local district. Quiet and unassuming with an ever-ready wit and always a kindly smile and word for everyone, he had won the highest esteem and regard of a large circle of friends, who will long mourn his sad and sudden demise. In his younger days the late Mr. Richardson was noted for his histrionic capabilities, having been an excellent amateur comedian, who was at all times willing to assist at charitable functions of any nature. He was very musically inclined, having been a leading clarionette player in the Branxton and Greta Brass Bands years ago. Deceased followed the trade of blacksmith and coachbuilder. and as a gunsmith many local residents who knew his ability, contend that he was without equal. Rev. McLaughlan, Methodist minister of Branxton, officiated at the services and at the graveside. The pall bearers were Messrs. Clem, Wilt and Reg. Richardson (sons), and Mr. Ben Cotton, (son-in-law). The late Mr. Richardson is survived by five sons — Messrs. Clem, Wilt, Clive, Manton, and Reg. Richardson, and two daughters — Mesdames A. Pethick and B. Cotton, and eight grandchildren, his wife having predeceased him by nine weeks. Wreaths were received from the following: Clive, Alma and Yvonne; Ben, Madge and family; Manton, Florrie, and family; Arthur and Mill; Wilton and Reg; Clem, Linda, and Betty; Andrew, Bella and family; Em. and family; Les, Bob and Lionel; Harry, Bina and Willa; Averil; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Harris; Mr. and Mrs. F. Slattery and family; Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Stuart and family; Mrs. M. Rose and family; Mr. and Mrs. D. Thrift, senr., and family; United Brothers' Lodge, G.U.O.O.F., Branxton; Women's Auxiliary of the Branxton Sub-Branch Returned Soldiers' League; Branxton Sub-Branch R.S. and S.I.L.A.
