Obituary from The Brownsburg Record, March 18, 1927, Brownsburg, Hendricks, IN "Life-long Resident Died Here Saturday Abram "Abe" Hornaday, a life-long resident of this community passed away Saturday after an illness of about _ years duration. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Homer C. Boblitt at the Christian Church, Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, with Revs. Tremaine and Ogden assisting. Burial was at the Greenlawn cemetery. During the services the following obituary was read. Abram E. Hornaday, son of Isaiah and Elvira Hornaday was born near Avon, Indiana, January 2, 1849 and passed on to his reward March 12, 1927, being 79 years, 2 months, and 10 days of age at the time of his death. September 13, 1871 he was married to Ella Farmer and to these good people were born six children---Mort the oldest child departed this life May 29, 1906, the other five are living. They are Omer of Indianapolis, Roy of Newcastle, Edgar of Seymour, Pearl the wife of Elliott Burns of Hadley and Loren of Ladoga. Besides his wife and children he leaves twenty grandchildren, one great grand child, two sisters and a host of friends. He was one of six children, four of whom have passed on to the great beyond, those remianing ar Sarah Barlow of Plainfield and Molly Euliss of Avon. The deceased was a member of the local Christian Church uniting with the same April 25, 1896 under the pastorate of the Rev. Howe." Obituary for The Danville (Ind.) Gazette, March 17, 1927 "A. E. Hornaday, who had been sick three years, passed away Saturday morning at 4:30. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Christian church. Mr. Hornaday has lived around here for several years. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Elliott Burns of Hadley; four sons, Omer of Indianapolis, Roy of Newcastle, Ed of Seymour, and Dr. L. I. Hornaday of Ladoga, besides his widow." |
