Abraham Shasteene on the 1807 petition of Walton Co., GA (now Transylvania and Henderson counties NC) residents. This area was still Indian land at this time and now falls in NC but until 1812 was believed to be in the Georgia area.

Abraham next appeared in the land deeds recorded Aug. 1815 in Rutherford Co., NC to settle the estate of James Coward. It is possible he had married a daughter of a Coward.

The only documented children for Abraham Chastain are his sons Abraham and Jacob noted in Pickens Co., SC Deed Book F1:167, dated Sep 1841: Abraham deeds to "Abraham and Jacob my lawfull heirs" ..."for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have..." Abraham Jr. has a sister Cynthia living with him throughout the census records, the 1880 census names her as his sister.
