Settlers of Lee County, Virginia, "Abner Lester was one of the early pioneers of Fincastle County, Virginia where he obtained land by grant. Abner settled on Pelham? Branch of Meadow Creek, a branch of Little Waters of the New River in Montgomery County where he resided for several years. Abner received a grant of 326 acres 17 Jun 1796 in Montgomery County, VA, on Pulma? Branch of Meadow Creek, a branch of Little River waters, of New River adjoining Ezekiel Howard & Grant No. 34, pg 357. Sometime prior to 1801 Abner Lester moved to Russell County where he purchased land and settled for a few years." In 1832 Abner Lester applied for a Revolutionary War pension. From the Montgomery List of War Records: "Sworn of Captain Daniel Triggs Company 9, September 1777." Abnor Lester "24 Aug 1801 - Abner purchased 80ac in Russell Co., VA from Tho Hunt for 74 pounds on the North fork of Indian Creek, Deed Book 3, Pg 232. 3 Oct 1809 - Abner (Abern) & Martha sold this 80ac to Rodd in Addison for 120 pounds from Floyd Co., VA, Deed Book 4, Pg 282.
