    Last rites for Mrs. Abbie Holmes, 85 year old well known Washington Township resident, were held Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the home. She died about 9:30 o’clock Friday night following a lingering illness.

    She was born July 27, 1857, the daughter of Hiram and Nancy (Hatfield) lamb. Her husband, Helmer Holmes preceded her in death May 9, 1931.

    Mrs. Holmes is survived by the following: A sister, Linea Strosnider, of Owensburg, and the following children: Thaddeus Holmes, of Sandborn; H. R. Holmes, of Indianapolis; Logan Holmesand Louie Holmes, of Washington Township; Max Holmes, of Newberry; Mrs. Dencil Shepherd, of Fairplay Township, and Dewey, Harvey, Dugger, and Mrs. William Maddock all at home.

    She was a member of the Bethany Christian Church. Rev. Logan Hatfield officiated at the services and burial was in the Prairie Chapel Cemetery. Kidd Funeral Home was in charge.
