[edit] BiographyAbigail Goodridge is the daughter of Edmund Goodridge and Hannah (Dole) Goodridge. Abigail Goodridge. [1] Other Name: Abigail Bean. [2] Born 4[3] or 5[4][5][6][7] JAN 1712 or 16 Aug 1712[8] Baptized 11 Jan 1712[9] or 1712/3[10] [edit] Which Abigail married Nathan Burbank and which married James Bean? There are two Abigail Goodridges born in 1712 in Newbury, Massachusetts. Abigail Goodridge daughter of Edmund and Hannah (Dole) Goodridge was born 5 Jan 1712 Abigail Goodridge daughter of Daniel and Mary (Ordway) Goodridge was born 16 May 1712 One married Nathan Burbank and the other married James Bean. [edit] For James Bean:Intent to marry 20 June 1734 in Newbury, Massachusetts.[11] No parents listed to confirm which Abigail Goodridge it is. On July 4, 1734,[12] in Brentwood, New Hampshire, Abigail married Reverend James Bean, son of Jeremiah Bean and Ruth (Johnson) Bean. Alternatively, they were married 4 July 1734 in Newbury.[13] Both were listed of Newbury, but no parents listed to confirm. Secondary Sources* The life and family of John Bean of Exeter and his cousins lists Abigail as daughter of Edmund and Hannah.* The Goodridge genealogy lists Abigail as daughter of Daniel and Mary. * The Goodrich Family in America lists Abigail as daughter of Edmund and Hannah.* Goodridge memorial lists Abigail, daughter of Daniel and Mary Abigail and James had six children: Elizabeth, Hezekah, Micajah, Mary, Lovey, and Jacob T. Bean.[14] She dies in 1745, but no grave or death records found to verify parents or birth/death date pair.
[edit] For Nathan Burbank:Nathan Burbank and Abigail Goodridge intent to marry 23 Sept 1742 recorded in Newbury, Massacusetts[15] with no parents listed. They married in Newbury, Massachusetts 18 Oct 1742[16] with addition that they were both of Newbury, but no parents listed. Secondary Sources* Genealogy of the Burbank family lists Abigail as daughter of Edmund and Hannah (Dole) Goodridge. * The Goodrich Family in America lists Abigail as daughter of Daniel and Mary. * Abigail, daughter of Edmund, has no marriage recorded in the The Goodridge genealogy Nathan Burbank died between 1755-1758. Abigail remarried Capt. Jacob Morrill of Salisbury. She dies in 1797, according to the Burbank Genealogy, but this contradicts death records where she died 1 Nov. 1806. No grave located to confirm birth date. [edit] ConclusionIn looking for will/probate of any of the parents, only Edmund Goodridge[17] was located, and it didn't clarify anything. At this point, it is unclear which Abigail Goodridge married which man. Until more documents are found, consider the relationships as detailed (husbands/parent pairs) a 50/50 guess and possibly incorrect. The two Abigails were second cousins, so it is possible DNA could answer the question, particularly mtDNA. Do you know more? Do you have other sources? [edit] Sources

As noted above, the 1928 Burbank Genealogy specifically lists that the Abigail Goodridge (b. Jan 5, 1712) who married Nathan Burbank (1st) and Capt. Jacob Morrill (2nd) is of the parents Edmund and Hannah Dole. Now, the Goodridge Genealogy backs that up by specifically indicating that the Abigail (b. May 16, 1712), daughter of Daniel and Mary Ordway, married James Bean in Newbury on July 4, 1734 and that she died in Newbury on August 18, 1795.Here is the link to the Genealogy: <a href="https://archive.org/search.php?query=external-identifier%3A%22urn%3Aoclc%3Arecord%3A1045585442%22" class="external free" title="https://archive.org/search.php?query=external-identifier%3A%22urn%3Aoclc%3Arecord%3A1045585442%22" rel="nofollow">https://archive.org/search.php?query=external-identifier%3A%22urn%3Aoclc%3Arecord%3A1045585442%22</a> The Goodridge Genealogy: A History of the Descendants of William Goodridge ...By Edwin Alonzo Goodridge and Lyman Horace Weeks (1918). There were two Abigail Goodridges born in 1712 in Newbury, MA.1) One (Goodridge-229) on January 5, 1712 to Edmund Goodridge and Hannah (Anna) Dole. She lived a long life and died on August 18, 1795. She was married first to Nathan Burbank (b. Dec 14, 1714) on Oct. 18, 1742 and second, after Nathan's death, to Capt. Jacob Morrill of Salisbury, MA on April 9, 1771. So, on Goodridge-229, you have the WRONG date of death and the WRONG husband.<a href="https://ma-vitalrecords.org/MA/Essex/Newbury/Images/Newbury_M072.shtml" class="external free" title="https://ma-vitalrecords.org/MA/Essex/Newbury/Images/Newbury_M072.shtml" rel="nofollow">https://ma-vitalrecords.org/MA/Essex/Newbury/Images/Newbury_M072.shtml</a> 2) The other (Goodridge-444) was born 16 May 1712 to Daniel and Mary Goodridge. She is the one who died in 1745 and who was married to Rev. James Bean. We know this because Rev. James Bean was widowed and married again, for the third time, in 1746 to Lydia Hoag. Thus, for Goodridge-444 you have the wrong husband and are missing the correct August 18, 1745 date of death."Massachusetts, Town Clerk, Vital and Town Records, 1626-2001," database with images, FamilySearch (<a href="https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-9979-98ZC?cc=2061550&wc=Q4DW-3Y3%3A353349401%2C353416701%2C353420701" class="external free" title="https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-9979-98ZC?cc=2061550&wc=Q4DW-3Y3%3A353349401%2C353416701%2C353420701" rel="nofollow">https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-9979-98ZC?cc=2061550&wc=Q4DW-3Y3%3A353349401%2C353416701%2C353420701</a> : 29 November 2018), Essex > Newbury > Births, marriages, deaths 1635-1734 vol 2 > image 48 of 149; citing Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth, Boston.
