Family tree▼ Facts and Events
Abigail's "mother married Mr. Cramm, a man not of her rank, was disowned and they came to America." She was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1777 and, "used to boast of her Welsh blood that never was conquered. She was tall, dark, of commanding appearance. She died at the age of eighty-four" on June 17, 1861. Abigail survived two husbands, had 13 known children and married a third time. Her grand-daughter, Mrs. Kelton, "cannot remember her in anything but a black satin dress with a V neck, filled in with folds of soft white satin, a white cap. When the minister failed to appear she took his place. She used to hold meetings of her own and "waxed eloquent." She made sinners tremble with her denunciations. I remember how still it used to be in the Tapleytown church (Ontario Province, Canada) when Mother Persons rose to give her testimony." |
