 In the Name of God Amen.  I Abiah Edgerton of Pawlet in the county of Rutland and State of Vermont widow of the late Simeon Edgerton of said Pawlet deceased, although laboring at present under some indisposition of body, yet being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, through the mercy of God, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, in manner and form following.
 First and principally I resign my soul with the utmost humility into the hand of Almighty God my Creator, humbly hoping for a blessed immortality through the merits and mediation of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ, and I desire that my body may be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter to be named, and as for such temporal estate as the Lord in his goodness and mercy hath intrusted me to be steward of I give devise and dispose thereof as follows, viz,
 I will that all my just debts and funeral charges and necessary expenses be paid by my Executor.  I give to my sons Dyer Edgerton, Jacob Edgerton, Simeon Edgerton and John Edgerton one full share of all my estate, whether real or personal, or one fourth of a share to each of them.
 I give to my daughters Lydia Carver, Hannah Cobb, Abiah Adams, Esther Reed, Polly Dutton, Sally Sheldon and Philena Sheldon one full share to each of them;  I give to my grand-daughters Lois Griswold, Polly Hyde and Betsey Hyde, daughters of my daughter Elisabeth Hyde, deceased, one full share, or one third of a share to each of them.
 And I do hereby will and appoint that my Executor shall by and out of my estate retain and satisfy himself all such costs and charges as he shall be put unto in the execution of this my will.  And I do hereby revoke all other wills by me formerly made, and declare this only to be my last will and testament and do hereby appoint my son Simeon Edgerton executor thereof. 
 In witness whereof I the said Abiah Edgerton have set my hand and seal the day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen.

Distribution of the Dower of Mrs. Abiah Edgerton (returned and filed April 1, 1822)

Probate District of Fair Haven

 Be it remembered that at a Probate Court, held at Castleton in and for said district on the 1st day of April 1822.  Present Hon. Samuel Moulton Esqr Judge.
 The committee appointed to divide that part of the real estate of Simeon Edgerton late of Pawlet in said district deceased, which was set off to the widow of said deceased for her Dower, the said widow having since died, made the following report, which was accepted and ordered to be recorded, and is as follows to wit,
 To the Hon. Judge of Probate for the district of Fair Haven in the county of Rutland, your committee appointed to make partition of the Dower of Abiah Edgerton late of Pawlet deceased which fell to her, by the death of her late husband, Simeon Edgerton deceased, amongst his or her lawful heirs do make the following return, which is in our opinion an equitable division. viz.
 We have set off to Jedidiah Edgerton five acres of land bounded as follows, to wit, beginning at the northwest corner of the widows Dower and extending fifteen rods East to a stake and stones on Daniel Branch’s land south line, then southerly to the highway a parallel line with the west line of said dower, containing five acres with two sixteenth of the buildings valued at – $68.
 To Simeon Edgerton three and one half acres of land, lying East and adjoining Jedidiah’s share, extending on the North line of said dower, and on Daniel Branch’s south line ten rods and nineteen links, to a stake and stones, then southerly to the highway a parallel line with Jedidiah’s share, containing the above three and a half acres, together with two sixteenths of the buildings valued at – $68.
 To Jacob Edgerton three acres of land lying East and adjoining Simeons share, extending on the North line of said Dower and on Daniel Branchs south line, east eight rods and twenty two links to a stake and stones, then southerly to the highway a parallel line with Simeon’s share, containing three acres together with two sixteenths of the buildings valued at – $68.
 To John Edgerton, three acres of land lying east and adjoining Jacob’s share, extending on the North line of said dower, and on Daniel Branchs South line, east eight rods and twenty two links, to a stake and stones, then southerly to the highway a parallel line with Jacob’s share, containing three acres together with two sixteenths of the buildings valued at – $68.
 To Philena Sheldon, two acres of land, lying East and adjoining John’s share, extending on the north line of said dower, and on Daniel Branch’s south line east five rods and twenty three links, to a stake and stones, then southerly to the south line of said dower, a parallel line with John’s share, containing two acres, together with one sixteenth of the buildings valued – $34.
 To Abiah Adams two acres of land, lying East and adjoining Philena’s share, extending on the north line of said Dower, and on Daniel Branch’s south line, east seven rods and seven links to a stake and stones, the southerly to the South line of said dower, a parallel line with Philena’s share, containing two acres together with one sixteenth of the buildings valued at – $34.
 To Sally Sheldon, two acres of land lying East and adjoining Abiah’s share, extending on the North line of said Dower, and on Daniel Branch’s south line, east seven rods and thirteen links, to a stake and stones, then southerly to the south line of said dower, a parallel line with Abiah’s share, containing two acres together with one sixteenth of the buildings, valued at $34.
 To the heirs of Elizabeth Hyde two acres of land lying East of Sally’s share extending on the North line of said dower, and on Daniel Branch’s south line, east six rods and twenty links to a stake and stones, then southerly to the south line of said dower, a parallel line with Sally’s share, containing two acres, together with one sixteenth of the buildings, valued at – $34.
 To Hannah Cobb two acres of land, lying East of Elizabeth Hyde’s heirs share extending on the North line of said dower, and on Daniel Branch’s south line, east five rods and seven links to a stake and stones, then southerly to the south line of said dower, a parallel line with the heirs of Elizabeth Hyde’s share, containing two acres together with one sixteenth of the buildings valued at – $34.
 To Polly Dutton two acres of land lying east of Hannah’s share, extending on the north line of said dower, and on Daniel Branch’s south line, east five rods and seventeen links to a stake and stones, then southerly to the south line of said dower, a parallel line with Hannah’s share, containing two acres, together with one sixteenth of the buildings, valued at – $34.
 To Lydia Carver, two and an half acres of land, lying east of Polly’s share, extending on the North line of said dower, and on Daniel Branch’s south line, East five rods and seventeen links, to a stake and stones, then southerly to the south line of said dower, a parallel line with Polly’s share, containing two and a half acres, together with one sixteenth of the buildings valued at – $34.
 To Esther Reed, three acres of land lying east of Lydia’s share extending on the North line of said dower, and on Daniel Branch’s south line, thirty three rods and twenty links to a stake and stones, then southerly to the south line of the said dower, a parallel line with Lydia’s share, containing three acres, together with one sixteenth of the buildings, valued at – $34.
 Fees for surveying and drafting the return     $1.50
Fees for making the partition $1.75
