Shoebox full of handwritten notes on family history collected by Esther (Scheideman) Chappuis (1903-1991), who lived most of her adult life in Lodi, San Joaquin County, California. When she passed, her notes and photos came into the possession of her nephew George Donald Scheideman, Jr., and eventually to his son George. In her time, she was apparently the "family historian", as she appeared to correspond with various cousins, and collect family history information. The box contains many handwritten pages of neatly inventoried family dates and events. Contents include:

• vital dates of descendants of Martin Scheidemann and Christina Weitzel to 2nd or 3rd generation, originally written sometime after 1960, with later additions as late as 1975
• vital dates of George Scheidemann and Elizabeth Kildau and their children (1 generation)
• lovely "In Memoriam" for Henry Scheideman, probably read at his funeral
