The Pictorial Bible
of Minerva Ann Cantey Shaffer
The following transcription was taken from Minerva Ann Cantey Shaffer's Family Bible. {The Holy Bible, Holman's Edition. Philadelphia: A. J. Holman & Co.
(No. 930 Arch Street), 1878.} Minerva was the daughter of Thomas Singletary Cantey and Ann Kenner Harbour of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the wife of John
Jackson Shaffer of Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. John and Minerva were married near Baton Ruge and ultimately moved to Terrebonne, where they lived the
remainder of their lives.
Information in the Bible appears to have been initiated by Minerva and then completed by by Milhado Lee Shaffer, Sr. these additional sheets were added to
complete several of the more recent generations. the miscellaneous notes at the end were obviously written by Minerva, the original author. With the exception
of words in brackets, which the transcriber could not decipher or to which some additions were made, the remainder of the transcription was taken directly from
the handwritten text in the Bible. {This information was transcribed by M. Lee Shaffer III, Ramstein AB, Germany, with the approval of M. Lee Shaffer, Jr.,
and Margaret M. Shaffer, Schriever, Louisiana. Any informationa about the Shaffer, Cantey, Strother, or Minor families would be appreciated by Lee Shaffer at
