In the matter of the Estate of Mary A. Scott, deceased
Now at this day comes Joe T. Scott and files his application in the form of law for letters of administrtion on said estate and it appearing to the court that he is entitled to administer said estate, he being a son of said deceased and is a suitable person, he is appointed such admin'r and upon giving and executing a bond as such, in the sum of eighteen hundred dollars with approved security letters are to issue . . . .

Now at this day came the said parties by their attorney, and both being ready for trial waive a jury and submit the trial of this cause to the court, and the court after hearing the evidence finds for the plaintiff the sum of one hundred dollars. It is therefore considered by the court that the plaintiff do have and be allowed of the fifth class of demands against said Estate the said sume of one hundred dollars, with interest at six per cent per annum till paid together with his costs.

Now at this day comes Joe T. Scott, admr. and files proof of publication of his notice of final settlement and also files his final settlement which is examined and approved, and it being shown to the court by vouchers filed therewith the said administrator has paid the heirs their respective shares of said estate said settlement is approved and said administrator is discharged.

1.) Application for Letters of Administration, 8 May 1882
In the Matter of Mary A. Scott Estate. Joseph T. Scott says that the names of heirs and places of residence are as follows:

2. ) May 13th AD 1882
St. John MO Mr. W. A. Shelton Probate Judge dear Sir I went on Joseph T. Scott bond for to take out letters of administration claiming to be the estate of Mary A. Scott deceased I want my name erased and some one else name in the place it is a going to envolve me in a lawsuit and I dont propose to furnish money to law against myself James T Scott yours
P S I will stand on 4 [written over next word: ban? bon?]responcible for what cost of take out papers has cost no more after this date 13 day of may 1882

3.)Affidavit, 6 July 1882
"Joseph T Scott administrator of the estate of Mary A. Scott on oath says that he has good cause to believe and does believe that Wm H Scott has concealed and embezled following evidences of debt belonging to said deceased to wit the following promisary notes to wit one note for one hundred dollars signed W. C. Scott due sometime in August 1882 and two promisary notes signed by Jas. T. Scott one for two hundred dollars and one for one hundred and fifty dollars and one signed by Ephraim Knight for one hundred and fifty dollars and now has them in his possession or under his control and he further states he is unable to give the date of said notes or state the time when due."

4.) Complaint, 12 October 1882
"Joe T. Scott states that the defendant, James, T. Scott, has in his possession a note on Jas. M. McMahon for Forty one Dollars, dated Feb 18th 1882 and due Dec 18th 1882 and one on Chas. Vorrieter for Seventy one Dollars 05/00 dated Feb 20th 1882; and one on D. G. Scott dated Feb 18th 1882 for $9.45 and cash amounting to Sixty Dollars all of which he unlawfully withholds from the plaintiff."

5.) Demand of Wm H Scott vs Estate of Mary A. Scott, 13 November 1882
"comes now William H Scott and upon his oath states that the notes held by Joseph T Scott Adm'r of the Estate of Mary A. Scott Dec'd, as follows: One on Ephriam Night for $150.00 and one on W. C. Scott for $150.00 and two on James T Scott amounting in the agragate to $350.00, making a sum total of six hundred dollars, were given to the deceased fro the price of the S.E1/4 of the SW1/4 of Sec 4 Township 66 of Range 20. and that the claimant was the Husband of Dec'd in her life time and during her lifetime, This claimant furnished her with one hundred dollars in money towards paying for the Real Estate aforesaid. and that it was agreed by said Mary A Scott now Dec'd that when said Land was sold, this claimant was to have & receive one hundred dollars out of the proceeds of such sale. in payment of the one hundred dollars so furnished by him. Therefore this claimant prays the court here to allow him the sum of one hundred dollars against said Estate with six percent interest and for all proper relief.

6.) 14 December 1882 - David G. Scott received a note of $9.45 and also a cow and calf for $25.00 as part payment of his share of $500.00 which is to be divided equally between seven [heirs]
15 January 1883 - David G. Scott recived $36.90 balance due as his share of the estate.
[Others also got their repayments and share. The second cow and calf and steer went to W. H. Scott.]
