Will of Mary (Segars) Short

In the name of God. Amen. I Mary Short of Cecil County in the State of Maryland being in tolerable Good health of body and of sound and disposing mind and memory and understanding but knowing the certainty of Death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors herein after to be named and after my debts and funeral debts are paid I devise and bequeath as follows.

Item 1st. It is my will and desire and I will the same that immediately after my death or as soon thereafter as convenient all my estate both Real or personal shall be sold at publick Sale by my Executors and after my debts are paid I give and bequeath unto my son James Wilson one-third part of the residue of my Estate to him and his heirs forever. I also give and bequeath unto my youngest son William Shorts one third part of the residue of my whole estate to him and his heirs.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my two sons James L. Wilson and William Shorts in trust for the use and benefit of my daughter Mary Scott the other one third of my whole estate after my debts are paid the interest accumulating on the said one third to be paid over by my Executers to the said Mary Scott annually during her natural life and after her death the said one third or principal shall be paid over to the children of the said Mary Scott equally share and share. And Lastly I do Herby constitute and appoint my two sons James L. Wilson and William Short to be Sole Executors of this my last will and testament revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made ratifying this and none other to be my last will and testament. In Testimony whereof the said Mary Short hath hereinto set her Hand and affixed her seal this third day of February Eighteen hundred and forty-three.

Signed Sealed published and declared by the within named testarix Mary Short as and for her last will and testament who at her request in her presence and the presence of each other have subscribed our names a witnesses thereto
