Family talk:Samuel Andrews and Jane Unknown (1)

Son James [6 December 2010]

Note from family page: "The christening date for child James Andrews may be suspect. "History of the Andrews Family" does not mention a child James being examined in Ipswich for passage to New England. This history also claims that James was born in Saco. Perhaps there was a 1st James who died before passage to NE, and a 2nd James who was born in Saco ?"

Great Migration cites TG 3:50-56 for a birth of 21 Feb 1625/6 and bp of 5 Mar 1625/6 at St James Garlickhithe, London. It identifies only "Jane the wife of the abovesaid Sam[uel] Andrewes, 30 years, Ellyn her servant aged 20 years, Jane Andrewes her daughter aged 3 years, [and] Elizabeth Androwes her daughter aged 2 years" on the passenger list. "Savage ... believed James was born here, evidently because his name does not appear on the list of those examined for passage [Savage 1:53-55]. Pope confuses this Samuel Andrews with a man of the same name who resided at Charlestown."--Amelia 23:51, 6 December 2010 (EST)
Also note that Anderson concludes his GM sketch by pointing out that Dunkle's article in The Genealogist (TG) was "motivated by the entries in an old family Bible, which provided much information not available elsewhere."--jaques1724 15:57, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

The chronology is more complicated by a number of problematic dates. RD600 by Roberts shows Jane Price, the alledged G-grandmother of James wife, Dorcas to have a Royal descent from Henry,I. However, she may have been the second or even third wife of George Cleeve and Elizabeth was his daughter by his first wife. See article by John BrandonSee also[1]--Scot 15:06, 7 December 2010 (EST)
