Removed: {{nomerge|Family:Jeremiah Meacham and Margaret Unknown (2)}} Wouldn't it be better to say, "Any proof that Prisse was Margaret's maiden name ?" It is unclear what the above statement refers to, but it certainly is an appropriate question. I am having trouble finding any source except unsourced websites that give the maiden surname of Margaret, and some that say that the name Prisse (or Price as it is suspected of being) is an unproven assertion that keeps getting passed around but for which no proof exists. The more reputable sources that I can find, such as Source:Torrey, Clarence Almon. New England Marriages Prior to 1700 for example, that mention Jeremiah Meachum give his first wife's name as Margaret ---. Since it is clear the children of this marriage cannot have two parents, I am merging these two pages. I am keeping the Unknown surname since there is no proof cited for Prisse, even of a secondary nature, much less of a primary nature. If somebody feels strongly about the name Prisse, let them cite some good proof and everybody will be happy. --Jrich 17:07, 2 May 2010 (EDT) |
