"Book B of the town records, printed page 319, shows that the wife of Zachariah Hawkins was Mary, daughter of Thomas Biggs, Sr. If he had as wife, Mary Mills, daughter of Jonathan Mills, as has been stated, she must have been a first wife, as the document attesting to Mary Biggs being wife of Zachariah Hawkins was signed by Thomas Biggs, Sr., on Jan. 11, 1698 (Jan. 22, 1699, new style)."
[Note: since this document is dated after Zachariah's death, we know that Mary Biggs was his widow, but we don't know if she was the mother of none, some, or all of the children. Since his will mentions grandchildren and also minor children, some born by 1669, others apparently born close to 1690, there is some appearance that there could be two groups of children separated by a gap, but since so few births are known for sure, nothing can be said with confidence.]
