  1. William and Elizabeth's (second or third?) son is born about 1705 which suggests they might have been married about 1700. Torrey says married by 1696 citing History of Newton (p. 401, has no maiden name and gives no date of marriage) and one other source (Source:Robinson, Charles E. Robinsons and Their Kin Folk, p. 81), which asserts this maiden name with no evidence or any further identification. There are sources (e.g., Source:Bennett, Archibald F. Finding Your Forefathers in America, Source:Cutter, William Richard. Historic Homes and Places and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of Middlesex County, Massachusetts) that give this marriage, sometimes with the date 1698 attached. The daughter of Lt. Phineas Upham m. 1691 Samuel Green who d. abt. 1735 so she was not the wife of William Robinson, and no descendant of John Upham of Malden appears to have been in a position to have a daughter born 1677-78 as indicated by the age at death of William Robinson's wife. Since William's daughter Elizabeth m. William Upham, and so had a married name of Elizabeth Upham, there is too much possibility for confusion to accept this without a source, and the mentioned sources I can locate don't give any evidence. It seems unlikely that William's wife's maiden name was Upham. That her name was Elizabeth is known from William's will and the birth records of their children.
