Quoting Lois Renick: "The William Renick (b. 1714,3. 1805) and Ann Hamilton (supposedly daughter of Andrew Hamilton) evidently did not exist. I joined the Hamilton National Genealogical Society ... to see if there was any information in the Society regarding this William Renick and wife, Ann Hamilton. There was no information to this effect in the Society. The only reference I could find was in Virkus's Compendium, Vol.4, p. 397. If you will read this article, it was the D.A.R. record of Inez Seymour Milton. The Renick-Morris Ancestral Chart also has this William Renick & Ann Hamilton. Sometimes in the past, not much proof was required as there is now to enter the DAR."

Quoting Glenn Gealy: "To clear up some misconceptions regarding William: a) His father was George, NOT Thomas according to researchers Lois M. Renick and Rod Renick. There was only one Thomas Renick at the time and he was George's son; George did not have a brother Thomas. b) His death was before 31 Jul 1741 when Letters of Administration were recorded. His disappearance from the records after 1741 was NOT because he sold his property in PA and went to VA. There was no William in the 1744 Frederick County VA feebook. c) He most certainly married Mary DUGAN, and it is believed that Virkus made up the Renick-Hamilton marriage. It appears that the children of Thomas Renick (d 1751) were mistakenly attributed to that William & Ann. There is no record of two Williams in Paxtang before 1740."
