From a letter written by Mettie Lawing Stewart, a great-granddaughter (written 1938):

"Sarah Bray McDaniel’s parents had 14 children: Harris, William, Sarah, Mark Fanny, Nathan, Polly, Patsy, Peggy, Sallie, Mahala, Calvin and Nancy. Fanny and Polly married Moons; Harris and William married Moons. All four families went to Indiana long before the others came there. Mark married Peggie Patterson. She was aristocratic, but seemed otherwise. Mahala married McNiff. After his death, married Brown. Betsy married William Hadley. A descendant of hers was Republican Gov. of Mo. We learned from him that he was related to us. Nancy married Davy Coble. Her son Harvey went to Ark. Her daughter Emma married Tedrick. Emma’s son Wilbur, now living in Springfield, Mo. sells “Red Radiant” roses to Springfield Seed Co.”
