He formerly resided in Sharon. Mr. Thompson was born in Pittsburgh 4 Oct 1876. He lived in Sharon for many years, moving to the Pittsburgh vicinity seven years ago. He was a charter member of the Sharon Lodge of LOOM and also belonged to the Railroad Trainsmen and Firemen’s Association. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mattie Stuart Thompson, a son George, at home, a brother Alfred of Toledo, OH, and one grandson. Mrs. Mattie Grace THOMPSON, 79, widow of Thomas J. THOMPSON, of West State Street, Oakdale, died Saturday, May 28, 1960, in the Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. A daughter of the late Seth and Jennie STUART MAGEE, she was born February 23, 1881, in Sharon. She and Mr. THOMPSON were united in marriage in 1901. Mr. THOMPSON died in 1945. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oakdale. She leaves a son, George A. THOMPSON of Oakdale; two sisters, Mrs. Sara SHAFFER and Mrs. Edith THOMAS of Sharon, and a brother, Carl MAGEE of Bay Shore, L. I., N. Y. There are three grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 31 in Sharon in charge of Dr. William H. Lawrence. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. |
