Thomas and Mary were married by the Gospel Minister Greviu. I. D. G. Nelson was Clerk of the Allen Circuit Court when they applied for their marriage license.

Thomas was naturalized on October 8, 1864, at the age of 25. He was a native of Ireland. He emigrated from Limerick and arrived at Whitehall.

Thomas and Mary lived at Gar Creek in Allen County, Indiana.

Thomas was 40 years, 10 months and 7 days old when he died of typhoid.

Mary was 58 years, 11 months and 22 days old when she died of dropsy and complications.

Mary's obituary reads, "News has reached this city of the death of Mrs. Thomas Ryan, a well known Milan township lady, which occurred from dropsy and attendant complications. Mrs. Ryan was about 60 years of age and has been a widow for several years. Surviving are six children--John, Joseph, Ella, Patrick, Mary and Anna. Mrs. Michael Shea, of this city, is a sister, and Daniel Broderick, of Huntington, is a brother of the deceased." [Fort Wayne Evening Sentinel, Wednesday 19 Dec 1900]
