    As "Sarah Sothwick, widow," she married, secondly, at Salem on 12 June 1674 Thomas Cooper. This unfortunate marriage ended in a divorce granted on 2 September 1684 after Cooper deserted her for an adulterous relationship with Abigail Sibley, he claiming that his marriage with Sarah was invalid because they were "not married according to the Law of England.
