Born in St. Mary's Co., Maryland, in 1762, Shadrack was a resident of Shenanah Co., Va, when he enlisted in the Revolutionary War in 1779 at the age of 16. He was discharged in 1781, lived in Shenandoah Co. 1783-1788, in Russell Co., Va, 1789-1806, and in Grainger Co., Tenn from 1808 until he died in 1839. He may have been in Illinois between 1806 and 1808.
I.Samuel WILLIAMS b. 9 Sep 1786, Shenandoah Co., Virginia, m. 23 Jan 1808, in Grainger Co., TN, ?Rebecca MORGAN, b. cir 1786. Samuel was born in Shenandoah Co, Va., probably moved with his father to Russell Co., Va in 1788/89, and to Grainger Co., Tn in about 1808. The book "Marriages of Grainger Co., TN 1796-1837" by Whitley lists three marriages of a Samuel Williams, but it is currently unknown which, if any, is this Samuel: 23 Jan 1808 to Rebecca Morgan; 10 Mar 1809 to Susannah Harris; and 15 Dec 1810 to Marion Hall.

II.Elizabeth WILLIAMS b. 18 Aug 1788, Russell Co., Virginia, m. 1809/1810, in ?Grainger Co., TN, William Cornell STEPHENS, b. 1790, Henry Co., VA, resided 1830-1860, Pulaski Co., KY, (son of Dudley STEPHENS and Nancy CORNELL) d. 23 Jan 1875, Pulaski Co., KY, buried Stephens Family Graveyard in Ingle. Elizabeth died 2 Nov 1866, ?Russell Co., Ky, buried Ingle, Pulaski, KY on their farm. Elizabeth was born in Russell Co., Virginia , shortly after her parents arrived there from Shenandoah Co., Va. The date and place of Elizabeth's marriage to William Cornell Stephens is not yet documented. Books listing Grainger Co., Tenn marriages do not list this marriage. Sarah WILLIAMS b. 21 Feb 1791, Russell Co., Virginia, resided 1833, Rhea Co., Tenn, m. 11 Oct 1811, in Grainger Co., TN, Crispin Eli SHELTON, b. 1788, Virginia, (son of Ralph SHELTON and Eliza unknown) d. 1833, Rhea Co., TN. Sarah died 28 Feb 1863. Sarah probably moved to Grainger Co. with her parents about 1808, where she married Crispin Shelton in 1811. Crispin: Ralph Shelton, probably Crispin's father, was bondsman for Crispin's marriage to Sarah.
IV.John WILLIAMS b. 30 Dec 1792, Russell Co., Virginia, m. in ?Grainger Co., Tenn, ?Abagail SMITH, b. abt 1792, d. unk. John died Lawrence Co., MO ?. John was born in Russell Co., Va and probably moved to Grainger Co., Tn with his parents about 1808.
There is a John Williams of the correct age range in the 1840 Grainger Co. census, but not in 1830. John's marriage to Ababail Smith was supplied by Rosemary Shields in 1992. CD #229, Marriage Records Early to 1850, shows a John Williams marrying Elizabeth Arwine on 16 Aug 1814 in Grainger Co., TN.

V. William WILLIAMS b. 21 Mar 1795, Russell Co., Virginia, m. 4 Dec 1817, in Grainger Co., TN, ?Anna K. COPELAND, b. cir 1795. William died Greene Co., MO ?. William settled on Turnback Creek, Green Co., MO. This later became Lawrence Co. It is reported that William's nephew Shadrack Williams Stephens and family later joined them at this location in the early 1840s (not. verified). A marriage by a William Williams to Anna Copeland is shown in marriage records, but it is unknown whether it is the correct William Williams.

VI.Reace WILLIAMS b. 18 Jun 1796, Russell Co., Virginia, resided 1830, Grainger Co., Tenn. Reace probably moved to Grainger Co., Tn with his parents in about 1808. There are two marriages of a Reace/Reece Williams shown in the book Marriages of Grainger Co., TN 1796-1837" by Whitley, but it is currently unknown which, if either, was of this Reace Williams: 7 Jan 1817 to Polly B. Floyd; and 5 Feb 1827 to Elizabeth Medford. (marriage data from Hester E. Stockton of Knoxville, TN, in April 1993.

VIII Joseph WILLIAMS b. 19 Oct 1801, Russell Co., Virginia, resided 1810-1825, Grainger Co., Tenn, m. 27 Apr 1817, in Grainger Co., TN, Polly CLARK, b. abt 1801, d. unk, Tennessee (?). Joseph was born in Russell Co., Va in 1801, where his parents were known to have lived then, then moved to Grainger Co., Tn with them at about 9 yrs-old in about 1808. He is believed to have been the administrator of his mother's intestate estate in 1863.
