Jane Downs b 1751 (d/o Frances Chew and Henry Downs Jr) m John Robinson on 18 July 1773.. Samuel Downs (Janes brother was b 1758) married Mary Ann Crockett d/o Archibald and Mary Ann King. Archibald’s father was indeed a Robert, but not Robert Watkins Crocket the ancestor of Davy (proven through deeds, land record and his will) the names of the children are completely different. Jane and Johns’ son Thomas Robinson b. 5 July 1774 married Samuel and Mary Ann’s daughter also named Jane Downs b. 8 jul 1790. They were first cousins. These families moved from Mecklenburg shortly after Thomas and Jane and settled in Morgan County, GA. Jane and John died and are buried on Willow Oak Plantation near Madison, GA. Samuel Downs died in 1795 and is buried in GA. Mary Ann resided with son Elias Crockett Downs until her death. Samuels will was contested. Thomas sold his land and moves to Harris county GA. There, Milas Jay meets Nancy Martin d/o Abraham Martin (son of Samuel Martin) and Elizabeth Harris of SC and later Gwinnet Co., GA. They marry, have several children including my g grandfather Samuel Martin Robinson in 1848. These two Robinson families along with Thomas Jr, his wife and daughter Sara move to Alabama in 1857. Thomas Jrs wife died on the way. He is aka Thomas Downs Robinson proven by his service in the CSA .This line was proven by the Jamestowne Society and Colonial Dames XVII through census, deeds, wills, tax records and previously proven DAR applications. Thomas Robinson Sr’s Bible was in my families’ possession until the 1990’s when one of the descendants lost track of it. Before Sarah Susan Robinson Mullins died in 1931 she willed the Bible to grand daughter Sophia who had it notarized that the Bible records were correct and authentic and did indeed belong to her g grandparents Thomas 1784 and Jane Downs Robinson 1790. Sophia used it to join the DAR in the 1960s. References
