[Sources covering this family seem to present plenty of different assertions while presenting precious little evidence. This source seems to represent a consensus, but admittedly, no evidence is presented here either. However, this appears to agree with Ann Evans' probate (see her page), which names a Israel Hodgdon as her eldest son, he apparently being named after his father. Some sources show Ann Thompson m. Daniel Goodwin, who then had a second wife Amy (e.g., here), but it is easy to suspect confusion between those two similar names, especially when they are written in cursive, so the scenario presented here seems more likely. Further some sources say Robert Evans married Ann Colcord, but the law at that time would have prevented him from marrying his first wife's sister, so suspect this is confusion as well by people who perhaps did not realize he had two wives?]
