Joseph Moſs and Eleſibeth Sautle wear married the 25 : of August :
[Note: secondary sources, such as the NEHGR article cited above, knowing Elizabeth Sawtell married Richard Whitney, based on the deed cited above, apparently assume the groom was incorrectly recorded, and assume the recorded date was still the correct marriage date for Richard Whitney. While the age at death of Richard, their eldest son, gives his birth as late 1692, meaning that this date might be close, notice also that the above article on p. 7, shows Jonathan's niece Elizabeth Sawtell (daughter of his brother Zachariah) "mar. (1) at Watertown 25 Aug. 1691, JOSEPH MORSE". So it appears the marriage that was recorded was the correct recording of a legitimate marriage that did not belong to this Elizabeth. If you throw out the erroneous marriage assigned to Jonathan's daughter by earlier researchers (see Source:Bond, Henry. Family Memorials. Genealogies of the Families and Descendants of the Early Settlers of Watertown, Massachusetts, Including Waltham and Weston (1855), Vol. 1, p. 373), why keep the date that went with it?]
