    This source explains that it is not certain that Sarah was the mother of Richard's first two children; only that she was his first known wife. Given that 'it would appear that Richard and Sarah had no children for about thirteen years before she died', and that 'Richard was only in his thirties, so Sarah was likely of childbearing age', one possibility offered is 'that Sarah was a second, barren wife, and the first two children were born of an earlier wife.'
