Richard and Mary were not married to each other. Both were married to others at the time of the births of these children, and they were raised as the sons of John Davenport, Mary's husband. However, YDNA testing of Davenport descendants determined that Richard and William descendants share YDNA, but do not share DNA with other children of John, or descendants of John's father Martin. They do, however, share YDNA with descendants of Richard Davenport, who lived next door to John and Mary at the relevant times.
