- The Phillip Rushing Jr. son usually attributed to Phillip Rushing and wife Hannah is the son of Abraham Rushing and his wife Mariah Meador, as indicated by land records and census records. The son Philip usually attributed to Abraham and Mariah is too young to have been his son Philip, and seems to have associated more closely with the family of Philip and his wife Hannah. The confusion seems to have originated with early membership applications to the DAR and to have been unquestioned and perpetuated by David Donahue and others.
