Children
Given the reasonable certainty that Philip and Catherine were born 1800 or 1801 (census and burial records), it would be expected that they married around 1820-1825 and it would be likely that there were children born before Evan who had likely left the household by the time of the 1851 census. The investigation is crippled by the apparent loss of the 1841 St. Bride's Major census returns. Additionally, Evan listed his place of birth as "Langan" on the 1851 census, presumably Llangan, bout kilometers east north east of St. Bride's Major and also another small village outside the periphery of Bridgend. Therefore, earlier children may not have been baptized in St. Bride's.
